About Military Families United

Keeping the family unit together

Advisory and Advocacy

Military Families United (MFU) mission is to keep the family unit together by providing advisory and advocacy support to veterans and their family members through and for spiritual, financial, and legal means. We intend to focus on services to include counseling and advising for schooling, family therapy, and community outreach. Various types of financial guidance will be offered. We will help with various legal situations by becoming a liaison, facilitator, or advocate for the applicant.

MFU is the administrative branch of PIC. This program will provide the oversight and accountability needed for all programs instituted by PIC. While working in conjunction with VHF, MFU will help the veterans with pre-entry qualification to the farm, farm exodus, and other life-changing matters.

MFU is the starting point for entry to the Farm. If the veteran needs addiction services we will match them up with a residential treatment facility in their area if possible. If not we will provide information to help them get treatment in their area. We will screen the applications and conduct background checks as needed. We cannot accept any sex offenders in the program for safety reasons.

Upon exodus from the farm, we will provide transition assistance to help better the veteran’s quality of life by not returning them to the same circumstances that brought them to the farm. This may include finding new housing, employment, and support services.

As the farm is vital to the veteran, MFU is vital to the family members. We are focused on providing support to the families of all veterans. Our staff will assist families financially by helping to create a budget or financial plan, and on a case by case basis and the need, paying for utilities, food, rent, or travel expenses.

Some families may require couples or family counseling. We will help by putting the counselors and the families together, and if needed paying for a set amount of visits.

Education is very important to the veteran and the family members. We shall help a by providing advice and assistance in obtaining and completing enrollment forms for schools, obtaining and filling out the FASFA, and GI BILL information and guidance.

Some families are in need of legal services for various reasons. We aim to provide information and advice to families on military and civil matters. We will work in conjunction with one of our affiliates to supply that information. With many of our staff being prior service members we are knowledgeable of the military chain of command and can work in an advocacy role to mediate between the family member and command.

We will work with the community by creating a mentorship program where troubled youth are paired with veterans for a weekend, that being sat and sun from 9a – 5p. We will also act as a community service provider for the judicial system as well as providing volunteer hours for those who would like to earn them.
